The beautiful story of the life of Abraham is summarized in the bible book of Hebrews. It is said that he obeyed God even when he did not know where he was going. His obedience, and the model that he set before his children, made his children to follow after him in obeying God. We do not know much about what he told Isaac, but we have clear understanding on how he obeyed God even when he was commanded to sacrifice his only child that he loved most, Isaac. At the end Isaac had faith and obeyed God, and the same thing happen with Jacob, and all Jacob’s children, they all followed after their parents in having faith and obeying God.
Do you know where you are going with your life? How do we make sure that our children will have faith and obey God? Abraham model his faith and obedience of God in front of his children. It was not much on what he said, but more about what he did in obeying God. His actions demonstrated how much he feared God. Sometimes our children are confused by us when what we tell them is not align with what we do. Some children’s rebellion might be as a result of confusion between words and action of parents. You should not allow this. Lead your family with words which are align to your actions. You should be the person of your words, otherwise children might get confused on which to follow between what you say and what you do.
Heb 11:8-10 Says “By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out into a place which he was afterward going to receive for an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he went. (9) By faith he lived in the land of promise as a stranger, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs of the same promise with him. (10) For he looked for a city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God.”
