Obey and instruct your children to obey the Lord
When Abraham had serve the travellers and the people who were in need, God made a decision to reveal to him what HE was about to do. The service he rendered to those in need was a service to God, and open doors for him to receive more favour. God confirmed that Abraham was surely going to become a great nation because he was going to instruct his children to observe the covenant (agreement) with God. His relationship with God and what he did to the travellers affected what the LORD decided to do for him.
Since the covenant is conditional, it is the responsibilities of those who enter it with God to instruct their children to observe it, so that the blessings/favours from God can be transferred from generation to generations. What God promised to your children might not come to pass if they rebel against God, in the same way that the promises of God upon your life might not come to pass when you rebel against God. Those who obey God, they become friends with Him, such that the Lord will reveals everything to them. You need to obey the Lord and instruct your children to obey the Lord in order to become a friend of God. Then the Lord will reveal everything to you.
Gen 18:17-19 (MKJV) Says “And Jehovah said, Shall I hide from Abraham the thing which I do, (18) And Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the persons of the earth shall be blessed in him? (19) For I know him, that he will command his sons and his house after him, and they shall keep the way of Jehovah, to do justice and judgment, that Jehovah may bring upon Abraham that which He has spoken of him.”
