As Isaac walked with his father to a place of sacrifice, he was still confused as to what was going to be used for sacrifice. What was missing was a lamp for the burnt offering, as the wood and the fire were already there. When he asked his father about it, Abraham’s response was that God will provide. In the normal case, Abraham would choose the animal to be used for burnt offering, but in this case it was God who had decided what was going to be used for burnt offering. Abraham’s answer was a true prophecy, pointing back to God who had instructed him to do the whole operation. At the time Abraham’s knowledge was that his son Isaac was going to be used as a sacrifice, however he was dependent on God for the ultimate provision, hence his response was that, “God will provide”.
You need to learn to carry God’s instruction even when it is difficult to do so. Abraham knew God as the provider. God had provided to him riches, animals, and had also provided Isaac. Whatever the outcomes would be, it was still going to be God’s provision. Don’t withhold what God has given you. Learn to give back to God what He has given to you.
Gen 22:7-8 Says “And Isaac said to his father Abraham, “My father!” And he said, “Here I am, my son.” He said, “Behold, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?” (8) Abraham said, “God will provide for himself the lamb for a burnt offering, my son.” So they went both of them together.”
