You might receive a lot of applause when you tell people what they want to hear, but it might not be making a difference or a major impact. The idea of doing and sticking to what works already might reduce risk and chances of failure, however it has no guarantee of making an impact to the future generation. You cannot make a lasting impact in life when you say what everybody says and do what everybody does.
Abraham was the first to take the journey to the promise land, Moses was the first to lead the people of Israel to Canaan, David was the first to volunteer to phase Goliath, and many more giants and heroes, made it as they did not follow a popular path. You don’t need popular opinion to obey God. If you obey and do God’s work in his way you will never lack his support. Doing God’s work in his way might not be easy but hard, but it carries God’s provision and support. Things that has popular support and follow a popular opinion might lead to destruction. You should do God’s work in his way.
The bible in Matthew 7:13-14 ESV (13) says “Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. (14) For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.”*You should do God’s work in his way*.
