2 Corinthians 12: 7 or because of these surpassingly great revelations. Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me.
The Apostle Paul’s encounter with the Lord is very interesting. When his physical and spiritual eyes were opened he began to spread the Good News and the Lord was with him. Apart from healing the sick and casting out the demons, etc Paul planted many churches in different provinces and he wrote a number of epistles to different churches. However in his epistle to the Corinthians Paul writes that he had a thorn in the flesh. He also tells the source and the purpose) of the thorn.
Many are times when we struggle in our lives because of thorns in our flesh. Your thorn could be internal or external. Internal thorn is your weakness Mark 7:21-22; “For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed the evil thoughts … and external thorn could be anything that brings you temptation.
It is very important to know the source of your thorn and then you will know how to deal with it.
One of many examples of internal thorn is jealousy. It ruins relationship with people around you. It helps to talk and pray about your thorn, and often you will feel delivered but the chance is you will find yourself stumbled in the same situation. Hence a need to often going on your knees and taking to God about it. The purpose of the thorn is to keep you closer and relying on God. What is your internal thorn? Make sure it keeps you closer to God.
God bless you
