The difference between a slave and a son is that a son is treated like a slave while he is still young as part of training. When he becomes mature, things change as he starts exercising his privileges of ownership. A father may treat his son as a slave in order to train him for the best stewardship of the inheritance. While still young he may experience difficulties and harshness of his father, but this is temporal until he is approved as mature.
Don’t’ be surprised by the difficulties you might experience. The Lord may allow you to go through difficulties just to prepare you for the future. You can learn something from every pain you go through.
Gal 4:1-3 GNB (1) But now to continue—the son who will receive his father’s property is treated just like a slave while he is young, even though he really owns everything. (2) While he is young, there are men who take care of him and manage his affairs until the time set by his father. (3) In the same way, we too were slaves of the ruling spirits of the universe before we reached spiritual maturity.
Gal 4:6-7 GNB (6) To show that you are his children, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who cries out, “Father, my Father.” (7) So then, you are no longer a slave but a child. And since you are his child, God will give you all that he has for his children.
*Let every pain teach you something*.
