Mothers have a special place for their children. They do their best to feed, teach, nurture and care for them. Even when a child has grown up and is raising his own family, he or she remains a child to his or her mother. The mother of James and John made a special request for her children who were the disciples of Jesus Christ. The request was for her children to have a special place in the Kingdom of God. Although the request was not granted, at least she tried. She wanted what was best for her fully grown-up children as she believed in Jesus as the Messiah.
The mother’s role and effort in caring and nurturing their children cannot be measured, especially when they are weak, sickly and vulnerable. They do this without expecting any reward. It is mothers love beyond description. Jesus placed an obligation to Peter to care, feed and protect the vulnerable children that he described as the sheep and lamps in John 21:15-17. Caring, feeding, and nurturing the vulnerable is a proof that you love Jesus. If you love Jesus, you have to prove it by caring and nurture the vulnerable people.
The bible inMatthew 20:20-21 ESV Says “Then the mother of the sons of Zebedee came up to him with her sons, and kneeling before him she asked him for something. (21) And he said to her, “What do you want?” She said to him, “Say that these two sons of mine are to sit, one at your right hand and one at your left, in your kingdom.” This shows mothers love at its best.
