There are many ways by which people show love and commitment to God, there are many ways that people use to worship God. They do these through prayers, sacrifices, and offering gifts at the altar. In addition, people work and serve God in various ways. It is possible for a person to try and keep a good relationship with God while he is messing up with the people around him. Jesus’ teachings to those who want to worship in truth are that they need to show commitment in reconciliation with others.
There are many reasons why reconciliation with others is important. The people you are on good terms with are likely to support you and make your life easier while your enemies will make your life difficult. The other way of looking at it is that the offerings you make to God while you do not care about relationships with people become useless. Fix your relationship with people and offer unhindered worship to God. John warns that you cannot claim that you love God whom you have not seen while you hate other people that you have seen (1 John 4:20-21).
Mat 5:23-26 GNB So if you are about to offer your gift to God at the altar and there you remember that your brother has something against you, (24) leave your gift there in front of the altar, go at once and make peace with your brother, and then come back and offer your gift to God. (25) “If someone brings a lawsuit against you and takes you to court, settle the dispute while there is time before you get to court. Once you are there, you will be turned over to the judge, who will hand you over to the police, and you will be put in jail. (26) There you will stay, I tell you until you pay the last penny of your fine.
Fix your relationship with others for unhindered worship.
