How do you deal with people who wrong you? Sometimes you try to do good to people, but they repay by hurting you. Sometimes the way people respond to the hurts of others depends on their perception of those people. If they feel those who hurt them are weaker than themselves they respond by retaliation of different forms. If they think that those people are stronger than themselves, they might seek means and tools they may use to fight back.
Retaliation is mostly about inflicting pain on someone because of what he did before. You receive your satisfaction by knowing that the other person is experiencing the pain. Jesus’ teaching is that you should not retaliate for yourself, for the Lord knows how to do it better. You need to treat people with love even when they hurt you. It is true that emotions are emotions, and your natural response might be anger bitterness, and you might want to prove your strength. But in whatever you do, remember your new identity in Christ. You are the child of God. The way you respond to people who hurt you should still make God happy. Be kind to all people.
The bible inMat 5:38-42 GW says “You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ (39) But I tell you not to oppose an evil person. If someone slaps you on your right cheek, turn your other cheek to him as well. (40) If someone wants to sue you in order to take your shirt, let him have your coat too. (41) If someone forces you to go one mile, go two miles with him. (42) Give to everyone who asks you for something. Don’t turn anyone away who wants to borrow something from you.”
Be kind to those who wrong you.
