Why do you do what you do?
It is common for a person to start doing something for the right purpose but later change the purpose. It is normally a person’s ego, and a strong urge for people’s approval that diverts, resources from God’s plan to individuals’ goals. Prayer and worship are meant to affirm the relationship between a person and God. The measurement of prayer’s effectiveness is based on how God weighs and responds to it, not the eloquence of words, loudness, or theological soundness.
God looks more at the heart more than the words you say, what you say to God with your heart is more important than what you say with your words. Corporate prayer should also express your heart to God. Prayer should not be used to address people but should be directed to God. You should not use prayer to impress people, prove a point, or show off your skill. Prayer that is made to impress others will not be answered by God. Prayer time is a very important time between a person and God, don’t waste it. *Do not use prayer to impress people*.
Mat 6:5-8 KJV And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray to stand in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. (6) But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. (7) But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. (8) Be not ye, therefore, like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of before ye ask him.
*Do not use prayer to impress people*.
