1 Samuel 2:30….But now the LORD declares: ‘Far be it from me! Those who honor me I will honor, but those who despise me will be disdained.
God was displeased with Eli’s son’s behavior and therefore announced a curse on them (Read 1Sam 2:27-36) Their behavior forced God to say something contrary to His original purpose of the family, hence He distanced Himself from the curse. Being the loving God, He wanted to ensure that whoever falls on the announced curse does it from his own will.
One explanation of honor is the quality of knowing and doing what is morally right. Knowing the Word of God will not help if you do not do practice and do His Will. James 1:22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.
God said: “Those who honor me I will honor but those who despise me will be disdained” When you honor God He Himself will honor you. But if you do not honor God He will give you to be insignificant and less regarded by people you live with. Do you feel that people disregard and disrespect you, check if you honor God?
