Gen 1:1 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
בראשׁית ברא אלהים את השׁמים ואת הארץ׃
Moses compiled and edited the writings of Adam and other ancient patriarchs into the Book of Genesis. His first words were “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth”. Anyone who really believe these words will have no difficulty in believing the rest of the Bible.
God is the sole eternal creator of the universe. He stands distinct and separate from the universe. He is not part of its basic material. God existed before the universe. There was no beginning – it was God Himself who began the beginning. He created space (‘heavens’), time (‘the beginning’), and matter (‘earth’).
God is sovereign and controls everything. Even the most powerful human rulers are controlled by God. He is greater than we can understand and imagine. He is not required to explain anything to us and yet his sovereign love extends to every part of our life. God created the universe out of love. Therefore, there is nothing impossible with God, and He alone gives meaning to everything.
