Peace be with you
Psalms 23 1 The Lord is my Shepherd [to feed, guide, and shield me], I shall not lack.
There is a special relationship between the sheep and the Shepherd. They understand and recognize each other’s voice. They spend quality time together in different weather conditions. When a stranger approaches, the sheep will become restless and make funny noise.
The relationship the shepherd and the sheep have is very strong. The Shepherd (1) provides for the sheep so they do not have to struggle to find food because the Shepherd will lead them to the best pasture; they get nutritious food that satisfies them. (2) In their journey the sheep do not worry about getting lost because they get accurate guidance from the Shepherd. (3) The Shepherd ensures protection of his sheep. He walks in front of the sheep so that he can notice anything that poses danger to the sheep. He has the rod to fight anything that could harm his sheep. They have no need to defend themselves. This is maximum protection.
When you accept Jesus as Lord and Savior you accept him as your Shepherd and He provides all your needs, food, shelter, etc. When you allow your eye to look at your neighbors’ basket you are exposing yourself to danger like food poisoning, malnutrition and poverty. The Bible, which is the inspired Word of God, gives guidance in your journey but when you decide to walk according to the rules and standard of the Society you will get lost, fall or get delayed, could even die before you reach your destination. When you walk alone you face dangerous situations and you have no one to fight for you.
You are not meant to lack, ensure that you allow Jesus to be your Shepherd.
God bless you
