JOSEPH – CHOSEN, BLESSED, BROKEN, AND GIVEN TO THE WORLD BY GOD
Luke 24:30
30 When he was at the table with them, he took the bread and blessed and broke it and gave it to them.
Joseph was a happy seventeen years old boy, living comfortably in his father’s house. Joseph lived in Canaan with his parents – Jacob and Leah, his one sister, and his eleven brothers. Jacob loved Joseph more than all his children and he made him a tunic of many colors (Gen 37:3). But JOSEPH WAS CHOSEN BY GOD! When God chose Joseph, He separated him from his family. Joseph was sold by his brothers to be a slave in Egypt. Joseph was rejected by his brothers and lived a lonely life in Egypt.
After God had chosen Joseph, GOD BLESSED HIM! The Lord was with Joseph, and he was a successful man. The Lord caused all that Joseph did to prosper in his hand. Joseph found favor in the sight of Potiphar. Potiphar promoted Joseph to oversee all that he had. Joseph was so blessed to a point that the entire house of Potiphar was blessed simply because of Joseph’s presence (Gen 39:2–6). After God has chosen you, He will bless you.
After God had blessed Joseph, GOD BROKE HIM! God had to crush Joseph to prevent him from becoming too proud because of the blessing. Joseph was falsely accused of rape by Potiphar’s wife. God allowed and permitted that Joseph be sent to prison (Gen 39:7–20). For 12 years, Joseph was in prison, being broken by God Himself. After God has blessed you, He will break you.
After God had broken Joseph, GOD GAVE HIM TO THE WORLD! After interpreting Pharaoh’s dream, God set Joseph over the entire land of Egypt (Gen 41:41,44). When there was a famine in all lands, except the land of Egypt, Joseph oversaw Egypt (Gen 41:54). The entire world depended on Joseph in Egypt for food. Joseph oversaw food distribution to the entire world. After God has broken you, He will give you to the world.
