MOSES – CHOSEN, BLESSED, BROKEN, AND GIVEN TO THE WORLD BY GOD
Luke 24:30 When he was at the table with them, he took the bread and blessed and broke it and gave it to them. Moses was born to Hebrew parents Amram and Jochebed. He was the third child after his sister Miriam and brother Aaron. Moses was an Israelite from the Tribe of Levi. But MOSES WAS CHOSEN BY GOD!
When God chose Moses, He separated him from his tribe and family. Moses was adopted by Pharaoh’s daughter, a princess of Egypt. Moses was taken away from his people and was raised by an idolater who worshiped the sun god. But Moses never forgot that he was a Hebrew, a worshiper of the One True God. When God chooses a person, he removes that person from a place of comfort and separates him from his community. After God had chosen Moses, GOD BLESSED HIM!
Moses, by virtue of being a ‘son’ of Pharaoh’s daughter, became a prince of Egypt. He grew up in a palace and enjoyed the privileges of the Egyptian royal house. After God has chosen you, He will bless you. After God had blessed Moses, GOD BROKE HIM! Moses desired to deliver his people, the Hebrews, from slavery in Egypt. Because Moses enjoyed blessings and privileges in Egypt, he thought he could deliver Israel by his own strength. He killed a brutal Egyptian taskmaster who was beating a Hebrew man. God stripped Moses of his Egyptian blessings and privileges and he became a murder suspect on the run. For 40 years, God was breaking and crushing Moses in the land of Midian. After God has blessed you, He will break you. After God had broken Moses, GOD GAVE HIM TO THE WORLD! After 40 years, God appeared to Moses, commanding him to deliver the Hebrews from slavery in Egypt. But now that Moses was broken, he did not see himself as qualified for this task – God had to convince him through miracles. Moses was used by God, in a mighty miraculous way, to bring redemption to His people.
Moses became the greatest prophet and teacher in the Bible. After God has broken you, He will give you to the world.
