What is law? Others words that have a similar meaning with the law are rules, commandments, regulations, decree, act, etc. In most cases, the law provides regulations and guidelines on how things need to be done and how people need to act and behave under certain circumstances. While leading the Israelites, Moses provided them with various kinds of laws which included moral laws, ceremonial laws, social laws, food laws, etc. God expressed his will to Moses by giving him the laws for the people. The prophet’s writings emphasized the implementation of those laws. Jesus Christ declared that his coming as Messiah was not to do away with the law but to fulfill it.
In summarizing the law and the writing of the prophets Jesus says the can be summed up through its purpose which is about the relationship that a person needs to have with his God and a relationship that he needs to have with others (Matthew 22:37-40). Jesus as the Messiah demonstrated a commitment to live in the right relationship with God and with the people around him. He fulfilled the law and the teachings of the prophets by demonstration and as well as his teachings. You need to love God with all heart, soul, and mind, and you need to love others as yourself. In everything you do you need to show your commitment to the love of God and for the love of others. You should not reject this law, but embrace it and teach others to embrace it. Strive to fix a broken relationship with God and with people.
Mat 5:17-19 CEV Don’t suppose that I came to do away with the Law and the Prophets. I did not come to do away with them, but to give them their full meaning. (18) Heaven and earth may disappear. But I promise you that not even a period or comma will ever disappear from the Law. Everything written in it must happen. (19) If you reject even the least important command in the Law and teach others to do the same, you will be the least important person in the kingdom of heaven. But if you obey and teach others its commands, you will have an important place in the kingdom.
Fix your relationship with God and with people.
