When Jesus was addressing his disciples about the sin of adultery, he further told them to avoid sin at all cost. He told them about their greatest enemy that could lead them to hell. Their greatest enemy was within themselves. Your greatest enemy that may lead you to sin is not external but within yourself. You need to get rid of anything that causes you to sin because they break your relationship with God and hell is real.
You should be prepared to poke your eyes, cut your hands if they are causing you to sin. This means that you need to practice self-control and self-discipline. If it’s people or friends that cause you to sin get rid of them. You don’t have to watch all TV programs, you don’t have to listen to some radio station, you don’t have to go through some internet sites. You don’t have to use that route when you are driving. You don’t have to ride that car, taxi, bus or train even if it’s free. Avoid and get out of any relationship that causes you to sin. It is better to be with God without those things than to be in hell after enjoying them. No money, cars, properties, entertainment is worth breaking your relationship with God. In Romans 7:15-18, Paul talks about this battle that you need to overcome. It is the battle within that you need to conquer in order to please God. Overcome these battles and win the favor of God.
Mat 5:29-30 CEV If your right eye causes you to sin, poke it out and throw it away. It is better to lose one part of your body, than for your whole body to end up in hell. (30) If your right-hand causes you to sin, chop it off and throw it away! It is better to lose one part of your body, than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.
Overcome the battle within you.
