Peace be with you
Ephesians 6:1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2 “Honor your father and mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise— 3 “so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.” 4 Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.
South Africa is from today engaging in a campaign, 16 days of encouraging fight against gender-based violence especial violence against children and women. Gender-based violence is the corrupt seed that grows and spreads like wildfire in our Society. It affects all human races. It comes in visible and invisible forms.
The government continues to make attempts to stop this behavior but on a daily basis, we hear of statistics of people who are abused. It is worse to note that there are a lot more cases that are never reported.
One would ask a question about what went wrong. I can conclude that this is a result of losing the one of foundations of life which is respect. The above Scripture addresses both children and adults about the importance of respect to each other. If we could teach our Society this foundation of life our world would be healed from the disease called violence. Ephesians 6 v 1 to 4 summarizes the message “Say no to abuse”.
May we together hold spiritual hands and pray against gender-based violence. May we not get tired to teach our children and brethren to respect each other. May we wherever we are demonstrate respect to each other.
May we “say no to abuse”
God bless you
