When a person is loyal to a king, he put his trust on him and serve him. He relies on him for his survival, protection and care. Without the king, he will feel vulnerable and unsecured, as a result he can do all things in his power in order to avoid getting separated from the king. Money has a tendency of taking a role of a king in people’s life, hence they serve it.
There are people who find security and protection from their money. They can do all things possible to get more money, or not to lose it. Killing for money becomes nothing big for them. When that happens, it means money has become everything in their lives, they are working for money. Money has become their king that they serve. You should not allow money to be your king, by putting heavy reliance on it. You need to have faith in God, and trust God to provide for all your needs. You should not serve money, but it should serve you. God can provide you with the money or means of getting the money you need; hence you should serve him only.
*You should not serve money, but you should serve God with your money*.
Mat 6:24 CEV You cannot be the slave of two masters! You will like one more than the other or be more loyal to one than the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
