Shepherds lived in the fields as they watched over sheep day and night. It was not always safe as dangerous animals would attack the sheep. But this particular night, the angel of God appeared to them and a terrifying light shone. Then the angel told them the good news that would cause *great joy for all people.*
Joy of people was lost in the Garden of Eden. But a promise made in Genesis 3:15 when God passed on judgment was fulfilled. Through birth of Jesus serpent’s head was crushed, joy of humanity was restored, eternal life is guaranteed.
Christmas time brings joy to people. Many take break from work, go on holidays and spend quality time with family. It is the time of joy. God gave us the most precious gift ever seen. Jesus was born to deliver us from eternal death. He was born to wipe away our sin and show us the way to heaven. When we believed in Christ we become children of God and that guarantees that heaven is our eternal home.
Great joy brought by Christmas is not only listening to Christmas carols, receiving gifts, spending time with family but reflection on the important foundation of Christian faith. We celebrate God’s love for the whole world. This truth is to hold on till the last breathe. If for whatever reason, you are not joyous today reflect and hold on to unchanging truth: Jesus was born to bring you greatest joy.
