*Distorted Christmas*

Luke 2: 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.

The angel delivered to the shepherds the good news that: … a Savior has been born TO YOU… these news were supposed to cause great joy for all people. And indeed for many birth of Jesus brings greatest joy ever known.
PNS Life daily devotion on 25 December 2021 touched briefly on people who are not be joyous on Christmas Day. The truth is many people in our Society have distorted the meaning of great joy during Christmas. People will spend lots of money on alcohol which has got more devastating results. People under the influence of alcohol engages in destructive activities, e.g. domestic violence, road accidents increase, depression sets in, fathers and or mothers desert their homes and more.

This results to loss of many lives, loss of hope, loss of loved ones. Children who are supposed to sing happy birthday to Jesus are miserable, physical and emotionally abused. For many, Christmas time is a reminder of greatest pain and loss they experienced. Perhaps Christmas is also time to remember and pray for restoration of joy to those who are miserable.

The good news however remain that God is with us, He gave us the most expensive gift, the gift that will last forever for us to cherish for the rest of our lives. You can count on His unfailing love and face the future regardless of the challenges at hand. Immanuel is His name, God with us.

God bless you
