Genesis 6:13 So God said to Noah, “I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy both them and the earth.
Making a resolution is a lesson from God. He planned creation, He planned to destroy human beings through the floods, and He planned restoration of man through birth of Christ Jesus. So you are on the right path when you plan ahead. There is always a reason for a resolution and a positive expected outcome.
Making resolutions is similar to making goals. There is however less pressure on making resolutions.
They are 1) important in life because they give you direction. When you have resolutions you are not likely to find yourself doing something unplanned. The Bible says in Ephesians 4:14 Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming.
2) When life gets too busy, it is not easy to reflect on the impact of your actions. If you have resolutions written down you will be able to track your past, present and future, and see if you are still on the right path or if you need to make adjustments.
3) Resolutions will boost your self-esteem, note and celebrate little achievements.
Remember the most important part of making resolutions is to commit and align them with the will of God. Psalms 37:4 says Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
God bless you
