Learn to say “NO”

2 Timothy 2: 11 For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. 12 It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in this present age.

It is good to feel welcomed, liked, appreciated, and accepted by people you live with.  In some environments, we strive to be accepted because of our needs. It is common to feel frustrated and less worthy if not appreciated. It destroys part of you to be criticized. The need to be accepted sometimes pushes you to want to behave like the world.

We live in the days where ungodly behavior is publicly promoted and Godly standards are publicly criticized. You might feel intimidated to tell people about your faith.  But you are not of this world, you are separated. This however brings conflict between you and your environment. It will make you feel uncomfortable. Mark 8:36 warns that gaining the world will make you lose your soul.

The grace of God is sufficient to carry you through. Christ lives inside you let your outside conduct be the testimony of your faith. Learn to say NO to ungodliness. Some of these actions appear minor, but remember little foxes ruin the vineyards (Song of Songs 2:15) If possible please take a pen and a paper and write down worldly actions and thoughts that you engage with, ask for forgiveness from God. Ask for help from the Holy Spirit that you will not justify those actions and thoughts; make this your resolution for 2022 and beyond. The grace of God teaches you to say No to ungodliness.

God bless you
