*Draw closer to Jesus (1)*

John 15:  5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me, you can do nothing.

The Book of John 15:1-17 teaches about the fruit-bearing of a believer. Jesus made an example of a tree. There is a Gardner (God), and the vine (Jesus) with its branches (Believers). There is an expectation for the branches to produce the fruit of the Spirit.

The branches are expected to produce the fruit in season. Christians are believers every day and therefore for them, the season of producing the fruit is every day.  There is a condition for the fruit to be produced; the branches must remain intact to the vine. As long as the branches are intact to the vine fruit production is guaranteed.

The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). These are 9 qualities of life that complete the beauty and benefit of being a Christian. The presence of the fruit in your life guarantees your well-being and also that of people around you.  This is not a one-day action but every day. That is why the Gardner prunes the branches in order that more and more fruit will be produced.

Do you feel that you fall short in producing the fruit? Surrender your struggle to Jesus. You are not alone and you do not need to hide because you cannot produce the fruit. John 15 says …” if you remain in me, you will bear much fruit” Draw closer to Jesus today.

God bless you
